Just to throw something into the loop before I go off to Glasgie for the long weekend...which comes first...being chinese, or being a lesbian....or are they both equal parts?...Discuss...

being a human first, then a woman, then a chinese, then a lesbian........anyway never mind the certain identity. you just be the only one you want to be in the world. EVERYONE IS UNIQUE NO MATTER WHO SHE/HE IS AND ENJOY THE LIFE IN YOUR WAY:)

hiya! well if you wanna go all techi about this discussiion here goes! life can ultimately *now with advancing technology* be pre-detemined, whether we're born male/female, our race, disabilities if any, so basically our structure. Are abilities comes with time, we may or may not be able to play the piano or ride a bike as well as the next person. then comes our sexuality, its still in debate whether or not it is a genetic inprint. If its a genetic imprint from an ancestor of mine, I'd very much like to know who!!! I believe that we are all born to fucntion to the best of our abilities and everything else is purely by choice/desire. We aren't born str8 or queer, we just become that through social interaction biggrin.gif I could delve deeper if you'd like tongue.gif
feelin rather psychoanalytic ph34r.gif

Yeah I agree with the socialisation and choice theory of forming our identity...not too sure about the gay gene theory either ...I suppose what I'm interested in is finding out from other people which part of themselves they identify with more (in terms of the culture, community etc etc)...and yes that does include whether or not gender plays a more significant part of people's identity above sexuality and 'ethnicity'. Lol, I'll just throw that in then.... wink.gif

blink.gif hmm all very good questions amy biggrin.gif for me I connect to the asian community more than the queer one! For one thing, gooood fooood! secondly we speak tha mutha tongue of cantonese/mandarine/har gar!!! both the gay and chinese community are lively bright and exciting. but theres no such thing as "Gay Food" so I'd have to go for the chinese community biggrin.gif On a more social aspect though I can't see myself cutting myself off from either of them both are a part of me. Its like telling me "here, you can have this heart but no brain ok?" thats just crazy talk woman!!! ph34r.gif
