biggrin.gif WOW!!! For those who couldn't make it Le Chinoise (oh and yes SuMay puts her hands up for french faux pax of using 'le' instead of 'la' wink.gif !) was fantastic!! Don't worry tho more events will be organised...but to answer Melody's question...yes at first it was so surreal to be in a room with so many CL's...but it was so cool too! Watch this space for a more in depth review of the night! Final head count tho was 35 women!!

For those that did attend it was sooooooo lovely to meet you all!!!!! Was good to meet some in person at last!! Good to see others again and catch up!! And good to meet some completely new people!!!

Can't wait for the next get together!

Yeah...come on! Let's have a gathering again! Then maybe Melody and gf can come down to London and it'll be cool. cool.gif My gf and I would love to meet everyone although we'll be a bit nervous and shy. LOL! tongue.gif

Melody- 05-09-2005
Yeah, join the gang! I think I'll be more nervous than you, tho! Hey, if anything, we can just sit quietly in the corner and sip our Chinese teas and hope some good person will talk to us! lol! My gf isnt Chinese and I dont know if she likes London much (the North/South thing..), but hey! If I tie her to my suitcase, she'll have to come along!! joking.. she'll kill me if she reads this! ph34r.gif

joul- 05-09-2005
At least all of us speak English. LOL! So that's a start. Do you speak Cantonese? I'll just munch on some dim sum while waiting for someone to break the ice. biggrin.gif And come on...you *have* to drag your gf along...she would have to keep an eye on you...since you're in London, *the* gay scene in UK. tongue.gif

Melody- 05-09-2005
lol. Joul, Im an angel with a shiny sparkling halo... cool.gif
Much as I like my gf, we have different tastes in stuff - I like rock music and rock clubs, she doesnt, so I cant just leave her at the hotel!!! lol. Something like that. I dont see her as a London person, maybe more Brighton where its more relaxed. Yeah, I speak Cantonese - but only conversational. Im miles more fluent in English, though. I speak Hakka, too. You speak Cantonese? We can weave in and out of English and Cantonese then.

joul- 05-09-2005
Well...I think your gf's tastes are more like my gf and I. We don't really like to party and stuffs...so you can leave her with us while you go 'rocking' in some club. LOL!

No I don't speak Hakka...I speak Hokkien and other dialects...well, it's not important to know. smile.gif As long as we speak English and Canto, we're fine.

Melody- 05-10-2005
Heyy!!! I like quiet nights in, too!!!!!!! I like clubbing now and then - sometimes more than others, but I can sit in with gf and just watch TV, too!!! Its just now and then, esp when Im passionately pissed off, clubbing and esp in a heavy rock club, is extremely good for screaming and dancing and singing to "f*ck the world" records!!! Its therapeutic - you should try it! wink.gif

So Canto-English it is then!! Gosh I wish I can just pack my bag and go to London in the morning now!! Oh, and lunch in Chinatown (or some upmarket restaurant, I dont mind....) is on you!!! LOL!

joul- 05-11-2005
Hey!! How come lunch is on me when you're the rich one? You can afford to start your own business while I'm just working in a shicken chop. tongue.gif

And speaking of Chinatown, I miss dim sum!! *starts wondering* Should I drag my gf to the city centre for dinner?? Then again, I should probably wait till her sore throat gets better.

Melody- 05-11-2005
HAHA!!!! Just feel my pain, Joul!!!!! Poor little me living up here with a husk of a China Town and not a decent Chinese meal.... awww... Im gonna cry...

And hey!!! Who said Im the rich one?!!! Youre the one living in an EXPENSIVE city!!!!! Youre the rich girl! Im just some.. hungry little lass! Besides, I need spending money for my trip to New Orleans in June. lol! cool.gif

Melody- 05-11-2005
Oh, and for the sake of all China Town diners, I think you should wait till your throats are better before guzzling down all that London dim-sum food that some poor lass up North can only dream of.... poor thing.

That's the point! I'm living in an expensive city, therefore I'm poor!! You don't spend much in Glasgow, so that's why you're richer than I am. But then again, I spent quite a lot as well when I was in Glasgow. Took the cab here and there. laugh.gif

You can have homecooked chinese food. Isn't that better than the restaurants?

Melody- 05-13-2005
Yeah, but londoners get paid more...

Sometimes home-cooked chinese food can be better... but I hardly ever have proper chinese food these days - maybe once a week and when I do, I seem to lose my appetite - my mum douses everything in so much oil now. I dont even drink the soup she makes, otherwise I feel my ateries clogging up! It doesnt taste as nice anymore. I like restaurant food - high in fat, strong in taste, and it looks appealing. Ive never tried Malaysian food, though.... wink.gif

And we spend more as well...so we're even. By the way, you're still buying lunch and dinner! tongue.gif

For some reason...the chinese thinks oil is free and they love using tonnes of oil in the cooking. Ugh!! Maybe they should change their wok to non stick ones. wink.gif

And Melody...I am so bringing you to a Malaysian restaurant the next time you're here. It's not really a restaurant by the way. It's a 'kopitiam' translating to coffee shop except that they don't exactly sell coffee!! LOL! Anyway, they sell different types of noodle dishes, rice etc. And you MUST try the malaysian dessert. We call it ice kacang (ice peanuts)...They basically just put some corn, red beans, jelly, peanuts and god knows what else with loads of syrup and condensed milk on the ice. You have to see it in order to know what I'm talking about. My description is quite pathetic. biggrin.gif

joul- 05-18-2005
Wow...how much can you eat in a day? Wait...don't answer that coz I think I can imagine that. laugh.gif

You?? Sweet??!! Hah hah! NOT! tongue.gif And yes the dessert is sweet. You're only a little younger than me, mind you. That does NOT make you a baby!

Ok fine...i'll treat you the dessert and that's ALL i'm promising! cool.gif

joul- 05-29-2005
Ok lil sis...I'll throw in a few noodles as well. But that's it!! Judging by how much you eat...you're going to bankrupt me in no time while you're here. Or maybe I can 'lose' you in the city centre since you're not familiar with London. biggrin.gif
